Johannes Thumfart, geboren 1978, studierte Philosophie und Geschichtswissenschaften in Berlin und Paris. Promovierte über den Dominikaner Francisco de Vitoria. Stipendiat des DFG und der Gerda-Henkel-Stiftung. Von 2009 bis 2010 wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Philosophie der FU Berlin, 2011 Gastwissenschaftler am Colegio de México in Mexiko Stadt, von 2012 bis 2013 Dozent an der Universidad Iberoamericana ebendort, seit 2014 Adjunct Professor an der University of Cincinnati. Schreibt für die Tageszeitung, die Zeit und die Süddeutsche Zeitung.
