Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Orientalistik / Sinologie - Japanologie, Note: 2,0, Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen (Institut für Japanologie), Veranstaltung: Okinawa - Die Brücke zu Asien, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In meiner Hausarbeit über den Krieg im Pazifik, richtet sich mein Augenmerk darauf die ausschlaggebenden Gründe für Japans Kriegseintritt gegen die USA zu ermitteln. Mein Ziel war es deutlich zu machen, dass Japan sich nicht erst seit dem Angriff auf Pearl Harbour in einem Krieg befand, sondern schon vor 1941 in China Krieg führte. Da ich der Ansicht bin, dass ein tieferes Verständnis für die Zeit der japanischen Expansion bzw. des japanischen Militarismus, sich nur ergeben kann, wenn zumindest grundlegende Kenntnisse um die Geschehnisse der Zeit der Landesöffnung vorhanden sind, beginne ich meine Hausarbeit mit einer kurzen Einführung in die Ereignisse dieser Zeit.
Anschließend versuche ich Japans Weg, von einer konstitutionellen Monarchie nach preußischem Vorbild zu einem militaristischen Staat zu schildern. Der Hauptteil meiner Hausarbeit endet mit der japanischen Kapitulation am 14. August 1945.

Im Schlussteil meiner Hausarbeit, möchte ich zum einen darstellen, dass es drei Ansichten darüber gibt, wann der Krieg im Fernen Osten begonnen hat. Zum anderen möchte ich hier kurz aufzeigen, dass die 1889 in Kraft gesetzte Meji Verfassung, Japans Weg zum Militarismus begünstigte.

Meiner Hausarbeit habe ich darüber hinaus eine Übersetzung einer japanischen Homepage (http://www31.ocn.ne.jp/~nero/) aus dem Internet hinzugefügt. Die Homepage behandelt weltweite Ereignisse ab dem Jahr 1900. Bemerkenswert finde ich an ihr, dass sie zwar kurz aber dafür offen über die Zwangsprostituierten für die japanische Armee, das Nanking Massaker oder über die Zwangsarbeiterproblematik in Japan berichtet. Allerdings möchte ich auch erwähnen, dass zum Beispiel ein Verweis auf eine mögliche negative Verwicklung des Kaiserhauses oder der kaiserlichen Familie, in die Ereignisse zwischen den Jahren 1931 bis 1945 unterbleibt. Meiner Kenntnis nach hat die heutige Forschung hierüber noch kein eindeutiges Ergebnis erzielt.
