Kleinkinder bringen in allen Bereichen Interessen mit und lernen mit allen Sinnen gleichzeitig. Daher ist es von großer Bedeutung, dass Kinder Gelegenheit zum Tanzen, Singen und Träumen erhalten, Musizieren dürfen, sich in Rollenspielen erproben und die Natur und Kultur erleben können. Kinder sollten klettern, toben, basteln, malen, kneten und bei Interesse etwas über Buchstaben und Zahlen erfahren … (vgl. Paulsen 2004, S. 81).

Durch den folgenden Aufsatz werde ich den LeserInnen einen kleinen Einblick in die Zusammenhänge zwischen mathematische Grunderfahrungen - insbesondere im Alter von 3 – 6 Jahren - und der Wahrnehmung und der Bewegung geben und das Projekt „Entdeckungen des Zahlenlandes“, bei dem die abstrakte und bildliche Welt der Mathematik für die Kinder mit allen Sinnen erfahrbar wird, kurz – in diesem Zusammenhang - darstellen. Ich gehe auf die Entwicklung der Körpersinne ein – was beinhalten Wahrnehmung, Merkfähigkeit und Motorik, welche Rolle spielen sie bei den mathematischen Grunderfahrungen und wie ist der Zusammenhang von Denken und Handeln zu erklären? Schon Piaget beschrieb, dass das sensomotorische Handeln des Säuglings als eine Form des Denkens zu begreifen ist und Neurologen haben festgestellt, dass das Kleinhirn, dass für die Koordination der körperlichen Bewegungen verantwortlich ist, ebenfalls die Bewegung der Gedanken lenkt. Weitere entscheidende Erkenntnisse aus der Hirnforschung sind, dass die Milliarden von Nervenzellen in unserem Gehirn erst dann funktionsfähig werden, wenn sie miteinander – zu sog. neuronalen Netzen - verknüpft worden sind und, dass es Zeiten - sog. sensible Phasen – gibt, in denen unser Gehirn auf spezifische Antwortreize angewiesen ist. Abschließen werde ich diese Arbeit mit einer kleinen Schlussbemerkung, in der ich diese - von mir kurz umrissene - Thematik etwas zusammenfassen und abrunden möchte.
