Tatsächlich sind es auch die Themen, die einen breiten Leserkreis ansprechen. So ist es nicht verwunderlich, daß auch Magazine versuchen das gesellschaftliche Phänomen Streß auf theoretische Weise zu erklären, und Bewältigungsmaßnahmen zu erbringen. Nie war der Wunsch des Einzelnen nach Zufriedenheit und Produktivität stärker ausgeprägt.
So hat z. B. der „Stern“ in einer neuen Serie mit Hilfe von Tests und theoretischen Grundlagen dem Leser die Möglichkeit geboten, zu testen „wie gesund seine Seele“ tatsächlich ist. Oft fühlt dieser sich in der heutigen Zeit durch Streß, Wut, Angst und den oft daraus resultierenden Folgen Depression und Sucht belastet. In diesem Artikel sieht der Verfasser in der ständigen Überforderung die Quelle von Streß. Auch stellt er dar, wie dieser „schädliche Dauerarlarm“ die menschlichen Organe schädigen kann, und so auch auf physiologischer Ebene das alltägliche Leben bestimmen kann. Hinsichtlich dieser Punkte und der Tatsache, daß immer mehr Menschen sich von dieser Problematik betroffen fühlen und daher auch tieferen Einblick gewinnen wollen, ist das Ziel dieser Arbeit näher auf das Phänomen Streß und seine Auswirkungen auf die Gesundheit einzugehen.
Die These von Lazarus liegt dieser Arbeit zu Grunde, aber auch das Werk von Kaluza hat bei der folgenden Erörterung eine wichtige Rolle gespielt.
Nachdem als erstes auf die Begriffe Streß und Gesundheit eingegangen wird, sollen im Hinblick auf die Arbeiten von Lazarus & Launier und Selye die Gründe der Entstehung von Streß erläutert werden, um sich dann denen, durch Streß ausgelösten physiologischen Vorgängen im Organismus und deren Wirkung auf das menschliche Wohlbefinden zuzuwenden.
