Hörte man früher Leute über Frauenfußball sprechen, wurde oft nur geschmunzelt, oder gar herzhaft gelacht. Kickende Frauen am Ball wurden und werden teils heute noch nicht immer als selbstverständlich angesehen, obwohl sich der Frauenfußball, bzw. dem Fußball ähnliche Wurf- und Schieß-Spiele, sog. Volkssportarten schon seit dem 12. Jahrhundert entwickelten (Frankreich) und schon damals von Frauen gespielt wurden.
Später begann dann die „richtige“ Entwicklung in England, die auch nach Deutschland vordrang. Es gab jedoch viele Gründe, warum Frauenfußball bzw. allgemein der Frauensport in früherer Zeit nicht ernst genommen, verpönt und sogar teilweise verboten wurde, auf die ich im späteren Verlauf meiner wissenschaftlich- analytischen Arbeit eingehen werde.

Ich werde methodisch - wissenschaftlich die Fragen klären, wie die Frau, trotz sozialer, emanzipationeller und angeblich „körperlicher“ Benachteiligung sowie grober Diskriminierungen in den vorigen Jahrzehnten einen Aufbruch im Sport und dabei besonders eine Entwicklung im Fußball erlebt hat, die sich bis heute auf dem Höhepunkt in der Geschichte des Frauenfußballs befindet. Die gesellschaftliche Rolle der Frau (niedriges soziales Ansehen) spielte dabei im Sport angesichts des Spiegelbildes der Gesellschaft in vergangener Zeit eine entscheidende und tragende Rolle, die im Weiteren in dieser Arbeit thematisiert werden wird. Der langsam anschließende strukturelle Wandel im Sport, ein Plus an eigener Handlungsfreiheit der Frauen und die beginnende Angleichung sozialer Verhältnisse der Geschlechter, auch Emanzipation genannt sind weitere Untersuchungsaspekte die ich in meiner Arbeit ergründen werde. Dabei wird auf die angebliche Gleichberechtigung zwischen Männern und Frauen im Sport (die es eigentlich nie gab) und die Frage nach den neuen „weiblich - maskulinen“ sportlichen Idealen der letzten Jahrzehnte eingegangen, da die Zahl der Frauen, die an typischen traditionellen Männermannschaftssport- arten (besonders dem Fußball) aktiv teilnimmt stetig gestiegen ist.
