Bezüglich der bilanziellen Berücksichtigung von Vorräten hat ein Unternehmen hauptsächlich
drei Probleme zu beachten. Die Probleme der Vorratsbewertung liegen nicht nur in der Ermittlung
der Anschaffungskosten von Rohstoffen oder Waren, die von Dritten bezogen wurden,
sondern auch in der komplexen Ermittlung der Herstellungskosten von selbst erstellten
fertigen und unfertigen Erzeugnissen. Weiterhin muss das Vorratsvermögen an jedem Bilanzstichtag
auf seine Werthaltigkeit überprüft werden.
Nach einer kurzen Begriffsdefinition von IAS 2 und Vorräten in Kapitel 2 wird in Kapitel 3
detailliert auf die Zugangsbewertung zu Anschaffungs- oder Herstellungskosten eingegangen.
Aus Wirtschaftlichkeits- und Vereinfachungsgründen kann bei der Ermittlung der Anschaffungs-
und Herstellungskosten die in Kapitel 4 dargestellte Standardkostenmethode oder die
retrograde Methode angewandt werden. Voraussetzung ist, dass die Ergebnisse annähernd den
tatsächlichen Anschaffungs- oder Herstellungskosten entsprechen.
Die Prüfung des Vorratsvermögens auf seine Werthaltigkeit wird in Kapitel 5 dargestellt,
ebenso wie die Anwendung der Bewertungsvereinfachungsverfahren. Ein Vergleich zwischen
den Regelungen des IAS mit denen des HGB erfolgt in Kapitel 6.
Den Abschluss der Arbeit bildet die Zusammenfassung in Kapitel 7.
