Bei diesem überraschenden Zusammentreffen kommt Pauline die Idee, den fremden Jungen zu ihrer Geburtstagsparty einzuladen, denn sie wird bald zehn und Mädchen wollen mit der ‚Verrückten’, die Fußball spielt, nichts zu tun haben.
Erfreut stimmt Mäxchen zu, denn das Mädchen gefällt ihm. Aber seine Mutter möchte erst einmal Paulines Eltern kennenlernen – doch da ist nur ihr Papa, denn ihre Eltern sind getrennt. Genau wie Mäxchens Eltern.
Auf diese Weise nimmt unsere Geschichte einen unerwarteten Verlauf, denn auch die beiden Erwachsenen gewinnen Gefallen aneinander, sodass der Geburtstagsparty nichts im Weg steht. Wenn da nicht Kakasie gewesen wäre, Herrn Bergers Kakadu. Den bringt Mäxchen zur Party mit, weil Herr Berger krank geworden ist. Aber mitten in der schönen Party bricht Kakasie aus seinem Käfig aus und sorgt für große Verwirrung. Diese setzt sich in der folgenden Zeit auf andere Weise fort, bis schließlich alles zu einem guten Ende führt und Mäxchen und Pauline ein merkwürdiges Weihnachtsfest feiern, an das sie sich immer erinnern werden.
