Siamo nel 1949, Mao Tze Tung proclama la Repubblica Popolare Cinese ma ai cinesi della Chinatown di San Francisco la cosa non preoccupa affatto.
Sono troppo indaffarati a gestire le loro attività commerciali e a rispettare le regole imposte dalla Triade, la Mafia Cinese, che governa su tutto e su tutti, tanto che nemmeno la polizia si adopera per contrastarla.
Solo Joe Louis Marciano oserà farlo, o meglio, si troverà costretto a farlo suo malgrado.
Come tutti i detective Marciano ha due problemi fondamentali, oltre all’affitto: evitare le revolverate e le donne che portano guai.
Riuscirà a non farsi ammazzare, mentre tutto il corredo di donne, guai, botte, malavita, tradimenti e colpi bassi lo investirà come un treno senza freni.
Il treno è guidato da Nancy Kwan una cino-americana che fa girare la testa ai cinesi, agli americani e anche al resto del mondo. La bella cinesina, arrivata da Hong Kong, ingaggia Marciano per recuperare un baule e un kimono. Un gioco da ragazzi insomma, se non fosse che i ragazzi che giocano con Marciano sono quelli della Mafia Cinese e lui se ne accorgerà troppo tardi.
A rendergli la vita più complicata c’è comunque Mong, il suo padrone di casa, che sembra collaborare con lui ma in realtà segue solo un suo specifico scopo: riportare a casa una sua nipote molto particolare.
