Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Kunst - Kunstgeschichte, Note: 2,7, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (Kunsthistorisches Seminar und Kunstodie), Veranstaltung: Jacopo Tintoretto und die Konkurrenz der Bilder, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit zwei Gemälden des venezianischen Malers Jacopo Robusti, genannt Jacopo Tintoretto. Er schuf sie in den Jahren 1592 bis 1594 für das Presbyterium in der Kirche von San Giorgio Maggiore in Venedig, Italien, wo man sie heute noch finden kann. Es handelt sich bei den Gemälden um "Die Mannalese" und "Das letzte Abendmahl". Es sind Laterali, also Leinwandgemälde, die an den Seitenwänden des Hauptaltars angebracht sind. Beide Bilder sind im Auftrag von Michele Alabardi entstanden, dem Prior des Klosters.

Auf den ersten Blick sind die beiden Bilder sehr konträr. Wo das Abendmahl dunkel, geschlossen und dramatisch erscheint, wirkt die Mannalese hell, offen und festlich. Die Arbeit soll aufzeigen, auf welche Weise sie trotzdem verbunden sind, über die Tatsache hinaus, dass das Thema Nahrung in beiden Bildern auftaucht. Nicht nur der Bezug aufeinander, sondern auch der zum Aufhängungsort ist dabei zu untersuchen.

Das Letzte Abendmahl ist die am häufigsten gemalte traditionelle Szene aus dem Leben Christi in Tintorettos Œuvre. Was für eine Entwicklung die Abbildungen dieser Szene durchlaufen, wie der Kern sich ändert und was schließlich das letzte Gemälde dieser Themenreihe zu seinem besten macht, soll herausgestellt werden. Wie verhält sich das bei dem Mannalese-Gemälde?

Hier fällt, wie in vielen von Tintorettos Bildern eine intensive Raumwirkung und ein ungewöhnliches Verhältnis des Lichtes auf. Um diesen Effekten auf den Grund zu gehen, muss Tintorettos Malweise genauer betrachtet werden.
