der Welt. In Deutschland stieg die Anzahl der Kinder und Jugendlichen, die in relativer
Armut leben, in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten kontinuierlich an.
Die Gründe und Auswirkungen der Kinderarmut sind dabei sehr verschieden und
mehrdimensional. Ziel dieser Hausarbeit ist es zunächst die Begriffe Armut und
Kinderkosten zu definieren, um dann zu untersuchen, in welchem Ausmaß deutsche
Kinder von Armut betroffen sind und welche Gruppen besonders gefährdet sind, welche
Bedeutung die Mehrdimensionalität in der Kinderarmutsforschung hat und welche
Folgen aus der Armutssituation für die Entwicklung von Kindern resultieren.
Abschließend werden dann Empfehlungen und Forderungen zur Bekämpfung von
Kinderarmut aufgezeigt. „Armut ist kein individuelles, sondern ein gesellschaftliches Problem, das
sozialpolitisch gelöst werden muss und sozialpädagogisch begleitet werden kann.
Armut bedeutet vielmehr eine allgemeine Unterversorgung mit wichtigen Gütern als
Folge einer ungleichen Verteilung ökonomischer Ressourcen und gesellschaftlicher
Lebenslagen.“1
Unter dem Begriff Armut versteht man ganz allgemein eine „wirtschaftliche Situation,
in der es Einzelnen oder ganzen Bevölkerungsgruppen nicht möglich ist, sich ihren
Lebensbedarf (Existenzminimum) aus eigenen Kräften zu beschaffen.“2
Kinderarmut ist ein eigenes Phänomen, das sich von der Eltern- und Erwachsenenarmut
erheblich im Ausmaß und der Qualität unterscheidet, da Kinder besondere Bedürfnisse
und Handlungsziele haben.
