Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Romanistik - Italienische u. Sardische Sprache, Literatur, Landeskunde, Note: 1,0, Technische Universität Dresden (Institut für Sprach-, Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Hauptseminar "Die Komödien des Carlo Goldoni", Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Seit dem Mittelalter werden weibliche Figuren in literarischen Texten engelhaft überhöht, die Jungfrau Maria ist das Idealbild der tugendhaften Frau. Auf der anderen Seite ist die Frau als lasterhaft und wenig intelligent verschrien, als Eva ist sie Trägerin der Erbsünde. Mit dem Humanismus bekamen auch reale Frauen langsam die Möglichkeit am intellektuellen Leben teilzuhaben. Literarisches Vorbild war die Donna di Palazzo, wie sie Castiglione in seinem dritten Buch des Libro del Cortegiano beschreibt. Im 16. Jahrhundert verbreiteten sich Erziehungsschriften für das weibliche Geschlecht rasant. Neben Francesco Barbaros, war besonders das Modell des konservativen Spaniers Juan Luis Vives’ prägend, gemäß dem die Frau wieder aus dem öffentlichen Leben verbannt wurde. Die einzige Bildung, die ihr zugestanden wurde, war das Bibelstudium. Als Italien Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts dann mehr und mehr unter den Einfluss Frankreichs geriet, übernahm man auch die Kultur der Salons. In den Salons und durch Akademien konnten hochadelige Frauen als Patroninnen auftreten und hatten somit Zugang zu gelehrten Kreisen. Wissenschaftliche Literatur per le dame überflutete geradezu den Markt. Weil die Frauen sich in den Salons aber frei ausleben konnten, wurden diese beizeiten mit Vorwürfen der Lasterhaftigkeit und erotischer Dekadenz konfrontiert.
Mit dem Hintergrund der Gedanken der Aufklärung ist es mein Ziel zu untersuchen, wie die Frau im 18. Jahrhundert gesehen wurde und welche Position Goldoni in diesem Kontext einnahm. Um darzulegen, welche Rolle die Frau in seinen Komödien und im Zuge seiner Theaterreform spielte, werde ich des Weiteren kurz auf seine persönlichen Beziehungen und die soziokulturelle Situation der Stadt Venedig eingehen.
