Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Theaterwissenschaft, Tanz, Note: 1, Universität Wien, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der französische Schauspieler, Regisseur, Dramatiker, Zeichner und vor allem Theater-Theoretiker Antonin Artaud brachte in die Welt des Theaters einige Veränderungen. Oft wird er als der Erfinder der Performance-Kunst bezeichnet, auch als einer der Gründer des „Modernen-Theaters“. Unzählige namhafte Persönlichkeiten zogen aus seinem Schaffen ihre Inspiration, viele bewegte dieses zu heftiger Kritik. Es stellt sich beim Lesen von Artauds Texten allerdings als sehr verlockend heraus, seine lebenslange Krankheit als alles erläuterndes Argument heranzuziehen, seine Formulierungen und wirren Zusammenhänge schreibt man gerne und erleichtert aufatmend seiner Schizophrenie zu; Eugène Ionesco beispielsweise findet nicht dass Artaud ein Philosoph sei, er bezeichnet ihn als temperamentvollen Rebell, bleibt aber nicht länger bei derart harmlosen Vergleichen, sondern meint weiters gnadenlos: „Außer einigen technischen Beobachtungen, die gültig geblieben sind, ist der Rest ein Wind, der einen leicht Übelkeit erregenden, unkonsequenten, infizierten Gestank mit sich trägt“.1 Artauds starke Betonung der Wichtigkeit der Körpersprache und seine grotesken Theaterstücke hatten starke Auswirkungen auf spätere Theater-Entwicklungen, wie das „absurde Theater“. Jean Genet, Samuel Beckett oder Heiner Müller, beispielsweise, nahmen Artauds Dramatik zum Vorbild. Jerzy Grotowski und Peter Brook ließen sich überaus stark von Artauds Publikum und Künstler verbindenden Metaphysik beeinflussen (seihe weiter: „Artauds Einflüsse auf Jerzy Grotowski und Peter Brook“). In den sechziger Jahren verwandelte sich Artauds Mischung aus Theater und bildender Kunst und der Zufalls-betonte Charakter seiner Aufführungen zu neuen Kunst-Formen, wie denen des Happenings, der Aktions-Kunst und der Performance. Ihnen bleibt unter anderem die fließende Grenze zwischen Künstler und Publikum als wichtiges Prinzip gemeinsam, ebenso das Bemühen um einen Einfluss auf die Psyche des Zuschauers.
